What can we do to reach out to the community? I have tried collaborating with the DARE program and local authorities in the past to host a car show at Earl Warren to help promote kids not to use drugs, and stop illegal street racing. Talked to the Chief of Police, left numerous voicemails for the mayor, and found out that it takes a lot of work to host a car show. So it never worked out. I brought up the idea of adopting a freeway, and help clean up the freeways a bit, but never got responses for that. So, what are your ideas? lets see if this works again.

The car show is a good idea. What we need to do is get a company to sponsor it... We had one in SD that was sponsored by Skunk2 and Kraftwerks. The meet was free to go to, free BBQ, and then there was a raffle with various Fit parts, T shirts, hats, that kind of thing. $10 tickets, the company ended up making money. If you're still floating the idea, lemme know, I'll help you set the show up.

i think the main difference would be SD has a pretty large car community while SB/Goleta has a small import one. _________________

I'm just throwing out the idea. I'm sure you did everything possible to get the last one together. And yeah, you're right that SD is a bigger market. I guess I just have high hopes for SB :-D

our last big meet was crowded with s2k's bc of Team Topdown showed up. if it wasnt for them, it wouldve been like a 15 car meet. Yeah, SB doesnt really have a thing for modded cars, if we where in the Valley/OC/SD, yeah, different story.

The BBQ we had ended up with a great turnout. The problem is that not many people will be willing to pitch in the money to get a large enough space reserved for the day, with the prospects of getting nothing back. Maybe if we had a sponsor with some businesses around town, we could organize something. I could talk to the car detail business I do some work at once we get a better idea about it. _________________

the main problem is getting the word out. We're in the "middle of nowhere". We have Santa Maria and Lompoc north of us, and Ventura and Oxnard/Camarillo South of us. ALL RICERS, for the most part.
